During the 2025 San Diego Comic Con, fans of the Friday the 13th franchise got their confirmation that a new film is in the works. This will mark the first movie in the series since 2009's Blood Loss, which served as a reimagining of the original story. A prequel television series "Crystal Lake" is currently in production. It's planned to be a Peacock exclusive, with production from A24 (Civil War, Everything Everywhere All At Once).
That wasn't the only reveal. Horror Inc. Vice President Robbie Barsamian also stated that a new Friday the 13th video game is also in the works. The quote comes from BloodyDisgusting.com.
“I can tell you that a new sequel movie and new sequel game are at the top of our list. It’s where most of our energy’s going right now. And I can tell you finally we’re in a position to deliver on that,” Barsamian spoke. “While we’re not officially announcing with our partners today, both are coming. They’re both in the works and they’re both coming.”

While it's stated as being a "sequel game", that is not necessarily confirmation that this project will serve as a direct sequel to the popular 2017 game developed by IllFonic. these projects are serving as more ideas in the works from the Jason Universe, a relaunch or re-energizing of the Friday the 13th property under its new ownership. The first we saw of this rebranding was Jason's appearance in the now-decommissioned platform fighter Multiversus. Not the strongest showing thus far, but there's value in the Jason Voorhees name.
The fate of the 2017 asymmetrical survival horror game was sealed after licensing issues with series creator Victor Miller led to the servers being shut down in 2020, effectively ending support for Friday the 13th. Online play was available through peer-to-peer until 2024, when all online services were officially discontinued. In April 2024, fan modders attempted a private server version of the game, Friday the 13th: the Game - Resurrected, but Horror Inc. quickly issued a cease and desist before its launch.
Does a new Friday the 13th video game sound exciting?
