After 12 years, the long-awaited follow-up to 2014's Alien Isolation is officially confirmed at the 2026 Summer Game Fest. Alien Isolation 2 returns with studio Creative Assembly returning to the helm. Back in 2017, Eurogamer had reported on the rumors of the sequel being out of the question, and that many of the staff at Creative Assembly had departed. By October of 2024, the team had confirmed AI2 was in early development.
“It has been over a decade since we created the original Alien: Isolation and I am so excited to show everyone the first glimpse of the sequel", said Creative Director of Creative Assembly Al Hope. "Our dedicated Survival team at Creative Assembly has been working hard to create a new, evolved Isolation experience continuing the legacy of the Alien franchise, making the eponymous killer smarter, the environment harsher and the chance of survival slimmer.”

Following a new lead character, Alien Isolation 2 takes place on a Weyland-Yutani outpost on the surface of a gloomy planet. Now out of the confines of a space station with Amanda Ripley, you're now ironically in a setting more reminiscent of Predator. My, how the turn tables. Craft resources and learn new skills, as the cat-and-mouse game of survival makes the stakes higher.
I was a fan of the first game, it was one of the more unique survival horror games of the time. I recall the Joes being quite a nuisance on a more regular basis than the Xenomorph, though it was a very fearsome adversary. Many times you couldn't repeat the means of hiding, lest you get dispatched quickly. I look forward to seeing what hazards will keep this entry refreshing.
Alien Isolation 2 is currently in development and can be added to your wishlist for the Xbox Series X|S, PC, PlayStation. It will also be making its way to the Nintendo Switch 2. There is no confirmed release date as of this writing.
