In Metal Gear Solid 3: the original Guy Savage nightmare was a scenario in which Naked Snake is lulled asleep. As this is happening, Para-Medic begins speaking about the film Dracula, which instills a fear of vampires in Snake during the nightmare. This leads to a hack-n-slash action game that runs for roughly five minutes, with the only objective being defeat the creatures until Snake wakes up.

A new version of this "Easter Egg" makes an appearance in Metal Gear Solid 3: Delta, and in a surprise twist, it was developed by one of the notable names in modern action titles, PlatinumGames, the creators of Bayonetta and Astral Chain. The official Metal Gear Twitter/X account confirmed the information.

This is the second time that PlatinumGames and Konami have teamed. It will be the first project they've collaborated on was the 2013 spin-off action game, Metal Gear: Rising Revengeance, Raiden's solo adventure following the events of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. That was a game I always wanted to see a follow-up to after the firing of Hideo Kojima in 2015, and perhaps this may be a stepping stone to revisit this as a new direction for the Metal gear franchise going forward. Perhaps wishful thinking on my part.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater releases August 28th 2025 for the Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Windows.
