Hanma's appearance rounds out the Season 3 content
During Tekken 8's portion of the Combo Breaker tournament, fans got their Season 3 character teaser; Yujiro Hanma, the main antagonist of the Baki the Grappler franchise, will be an upcoming roster addition. He is slated to be released in the first quarter of 2027, making him a winter release. The fan reception has been overwhelmingly positive, perhaps some much needed mainstream feedback Tekken 8 was searching for, following some controversial balance patches that divided the player base.
In the Baki the Grappler manga and anime written by Keisuke Itagaki, Yujiro Hanma is described as "The strongest creature on the Earth", exhibiting superhuman feats of strength and martial prowess. He is the father of protagonist Baki and his half-brother Jack. he is fiercely arrogant and deadly, showing no mercy to anyone. His fighting style and violent demeanor will likely fit in perfectly with the Tekken roster, where insane feats of strength are regularly on display. Not to mention the ruthless mentality of the Mishima family, it should gel relatively well. Given Heihachi's penchant for throwing his progeny off of cliffs in order to test them, this will be uncommon ground for Yujiro.
The teaser, naturally does not showcase an in-game model, that will be seen in the coming weeks, if not months. He joins the Season 3 line-up of Kunimitsu, Bob, and Roger Jr.
Tekken 8 is currently available on the Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Windows.
