Following a year after its release on Playstation 5 and Windows, the critically acclaimed action RPG will launch on Xbox Series X and the Series S platforms. While initial discussions surrounding its PlayStation console exclusivity led many to believe there was a deal struck between publisher and developer, Game Science confirmed the delay of the port was due to "optimization standards".

Following a success that saw Black Myth: Wukong outsell a good number of conventional and high profile intellectual properties (surpassing games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Elden Ring on Steam), Game Science's first shot at a major AAA-style project is a strong success. Its journey to the Xbox platform required performance quality (speculated that the Xbox Series S is to be the catalyst for the delay).

"Bringing Black Myth: Wukong to Xbox Series X|S - and ensuring the experience met our internal quality standards - was no easy feat," Game Science wrote in an FAQ, reported by Games Radar. "Fortunately, we were able to complete this challenging task smoothly within the first year of the game's official release."

Black Myth: Wukong is an action RPG rooted in Chinese mythology. The story is based on Journey to the West, one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature. You shall set out as the Destined One to venture into the challenges and marvels ahead, to uncover the obscured truth beneath the veil of a glorious legend from the past.
