While a new Star Wars Jedi entry has been confirmed by Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment, there has been little news or updates about its current development status. Along with that is the speculation about when it could possibly be released. The 2023 action title Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was a successful sequel to 2019's Fallen Order, breathing new life into Star Wars video games.

They may not be a predominately breaking news centric show, but on the Kinda Funny Gamescast, when the topic of Star Wars related games came up, Tim Getty presented a possible window for the third Star Wars Jedi game.

"I don't think it's a slam dunk, but I just wonder where that would fall. Summer Game Fest and then or before that, maybe as I can see that game being announced in May and then coming out in September."

That doesn't seem completely unreasonable. Summer Game Fest is an ideal time to reveal new, highly anticipated software that can be released towards the later half of 2026. A reveal trailer during the summer would place it 3 and a half years after the release of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. This could theoretically give the new game a launch date of 2027. That could be far more ideal, as launching in third quarter/late 2026 would place the action adventure game in the same stratosphere as Grand Theft Auto VI and Marvel's Wolverine, which would be a marketing disaster. Director of the first games Stig Asmussen departing Respawn/EA may also have had an impact on the development roadmap and future vision for the series.

Respawn Entertainment holding the cards close to their chest is more prudent about Cal Kestis' latest journey, as announcing anything too soon before something is available to showcase serves no masters, beyond being in the news cycle for a brief window. Do you think a reveal for the next Star Wars Jedi game is possible for 2026?
