Fans Unlikely To See Sonic Adventure Remakes Or Remaster
"...It would be as much time and energy to make a new title"

Sonic fans may have enjoyed the quality of 2022's Sonic Frontiers, many still long for a return to the Adventures lines of games. Originally released on the Sega Dreamcast, Sonic Adventures 1 and 2 cemented the characters, lore, and music into a generation of upbringing for Sega enthusiasts. It appears, however, that those era of games are likely going to remain locked onto the consoles of yesteryear.
During an interview with Shackside News, Vice President of sonic the Hedgehog production Takashi Iizuka spoken about the recently released Sonic Racing Crossworlds, and among topics, the host brought up a possibility of a remake or remaster of the Sonic Adventure games.
"Can you tell us anything about a Sonic Adventure 2 or remaster or re-release? I love that game, I want to see it remastered."
"Yeah, I do hear that a lot," Iizuka replies. "I am appreciative for everyone who likes the Sonic Adventure series. But when I think about it, what it would take [to bring] that kind of game up to the standards and expectations of what the modern gaming audience would want, I think it would be as much time and energy as it would to make a new title. So a part of me is thinking 'just make a brand new title'. And that's why there's currently no plans."
While it makes sense for Sonic fans to likely be disappointed by this news, it's something that isn't uncommon for Sega to consider. Aspects of those games have not aged well, from the controls, the visuals, and world build. A little more surprising (maybe) that even a game like Frontiers, which has received generally favorable praise (something 3D Sonic games seldom got during the 2000's and 2010's) is not embraced on the level of being a successor. Can't please everyone, I suppose.
