Bowser jumps from his airship to take on a critical role with multinational toy manufacturer and entertainment holdings giant Hasbro. With his last day as Chief Operating Officer of Nintendo of America being December 31st, Doug Bowser joins Hasbro as a representative on their board of directors. Bowser spent 6 years has NoA's president after filling for the Reggie Fils-Aime in 2019. This rounded out a full decade with the video game producer (2015-2025).

Leaping from one major entertainment fixture for another in less than a month, Hasbro is home to popular intellectual properties like Wizards of the Coast, owners of Magic: the Gathering (and Baldur's Gate), Transformers, My Little Pony, and Dungeons & Dragons. Other additions to the board include Carla Vernon, Chief Executive Officer of The Honest Company (founded by Jessica Alba), a venture that specializes in baby care products. A group who has seen its share of recent controversies, such as the closure of its app.

“We are delighted to have Doug and Carla join our seasoned and dynamic Board of Directors,” Chair of Hasbro's Board of Directors Rich Stoddart stated in a press release. “Doug and Carla bring extensive leadership experience across consumer brands and franchise management. Their expertise and guidance will be invaluable as Hasbro continues to execute its long-term innovation and growth strategy.”

Bowser was succeeded at Nintendo by Devon Pritchard, who also has an extensive history in the video game industry spanning 19 years. In his tenure, the aptly-named Mario villain mostly oversaw the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, which has sold over 10 million units, as of June 2025.
