Free Games Update - Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack April 2025: Sega Genesis

The Nintendo Switch Online comes with some new additions to the Sega Genesis catalog. These Mega Drive Classics classics include Super Thunder Blade, Streets of Rage, and ESWAT City Under Seige.

These games are available to play NOW (access requires a subscription to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack)

Super Thunder Blade - This is an original shooting game that debuted on the Mega Drive. It was released as the seventh installment of the Sega Experience Game series, and the game system of the popular arcade game has been reconstructed for home use. You control the highly maneuverable armed helicopter "Super Thunder Blade" and fight armed guerrillas. Your weapons are the Vulcan and homing missiles. The stage consists of two types of scenes: a two-part 3D shooting scene with a mid-boss in between, and a 2D shooting scene where you ambush giant weapons from the sky. The decisive factor in the battle is the hovering function, an action unique to helicopters. Adjust your speed freely to sneak through caves and factory pipes and aim for the enemy's base. Streets of Rage - The first installment of the hugely popular fighting action game, depicting the battle of three young men who take on a powerful syndicate with only their fists as weapons. Axel, a martial arts expert, Adam, a boxer, and Blaze, the only female judoka, advance through eight stages to reach the building where the boss of the syndicate awaits. If you don't stay united with your teammates, there could be a big twist at the end. The rhythmic sound by Yuzo Koshiro adds color to the battles. Original release date: August 2nd, 1991

ESWAT City Under Seige - The player is a member of the armored mobile police "ESWAT". By progressing through the stages and increasing your rank, you will be equipped with armed combat suits and will be able to fight stronger enemies. The combat suit "ICE" can be equipped with and selected from five types of shots, including plasma cannons and rocket launchers. You can also use burners to move freely in the air. Criminals hiding in various places such as prisons, power plants, and bio-research laboratories have set up traps and are waiting for the player. At the deepest part of the stage, a giant boss equipped with powerful weapons appears and engages in a one-on-one battle with ESWAT. Original release date: July 14, 1990
