The Konami developed X-Men arcade game was one of the early 90's most popular brawlers, and it shockingly never received a home port on the Super Nintendo or Sega Genesis. Thanks to independent game developer ZVitor, who gained a reputation for their work on fan games like Marvel Infinity War, Dungeons & Dragons, and Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm, the popular action game has had new life breathed into it.

The reporting comes by way of Time Extension, Zvitor utilizes the Open Beats of Rage engine to recreate Konami's scenarios and adds a plethora of characters from across the X-Men universe, totaling up the roster to 30 playable heroes by using assets from other 16-bit Marvel games.
"In our remake, we keep the base of the SNES games for most of the characters, but adapted to have the uniform of the Konami game," ZVitor states. "Based on the original, we have Colossus and Dazzler. Wolverine and Cyclops are from X-Men Mutant Apocalypse for the SNES, Nightcrawler is from X-Men 2 Clone Wars for the SEGA Genesis and Storm is from X-Men: Reign of Apocalypse for the Game Boy Advance, thus creating that mix but trying to keep them all in the same standard style."

The game has up to four players, but you can play co-op with the CPU and have up to three self-playing allies. Acknowledging that gathering four people around a computer to play co-op may prove to be difficult, ZVitor sees this as an issue to address. Based on his statement, they were unable to utilize a tool like Parsec to allow online play.
"This mode still needs adjustments and should be improved in the future," they confirm.
ZVitor's fan made games are all free, monetary support comes through Patreon or becoming a member of his YouTube channel,. Their library of games can be checked out here.
