Late Saturday, strong speculation had surfaced that big U.S. retailers Target and Walmart were planning on removing their Xbox supply. This rumor began on an Xbox subreddit where a user CodeE1985 and others stated that their local Target was getting rid of the entire Xbox section, and that all Targets in Kansas City was to follow suit. The growing concern comes after CostCo locations in the U.S. and U.K. removed their Xbox inventory in physical and online stores two weeks ago.
Xbox has since refuted the claims as false. Windows Central has reported in an official statement from Xbox that there have been no plans to cull Xbox hardware and software form their stores. “Target and Walmart, among other retailers, remain committed partners for Xbox consoles, accessories, and games”
Former IGN video editor Destin Legarie chimed in, posting on social media regarding the legitimacy of these claims.
I don't know if this is true or accurate, but I do know that I called my local Walmart and Target. Both stores haven't heard anything about pulling stock or discontinuing Xbox. They both also have Xbox in stock. So take that for what you will.

The rising concerns over Xbox's health in the hardware market have come regarding the increased cost in Game Pass Ultimate, as well as the porting of what many had considered Xbox exclusive software being ported to the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation platforms. Microsoft has also stated they remain dedicated to manufacturing hardware, which seems to be a mixed message, given their "Everything is an Xbox" marketing strategy. Granted, that is more a promotion of their cloud-based gaming technology. They've also announced their dedicated handheld device, the Rog Ally.
