We now have official confirmation from Nintendo about when customers can pre-order the Switch 2. A considerable leap forward in technology and hardware specs from its predecessor, the Switch 2 certainly has some strong perks. The uncertainty was in the pricing; how much was this new hybrid console going to cost, and when it was going to be available for pre-order?

In the wake of the United States tariffs placed on imported goods, much was made about the price of the Switch 2, and Nintendo has verified both a pre-order date, as well the cost of hardware, software, and accessories. The base console will remain $449.99. The Nintendo Switch 2, with the Mario Kart World Bundle will cost $499.99, as of April 18th. Regarding the software, a point of contention among the community. Mario Kart World will sit at $79.99, while Donkey Kong Bananza is $69.99. With these being both first party Nintendo titles, Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser's statement regarding select pricing (paywall for The Verge article) for games seems to be fact.

The Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders will launch April 24th at most major retailers. The company ensures enough inventory will be available, time will tell if Nintendo can stay ahead of scalpers or demand. Or will the higher costs have an effect on early Switch 2 numbers? The original Switch caught the world by surprise, can that magic be replicated?
