Marvel Rivals' next season is just a little more than a month away (July 11th), and the Cerebro Database event is setting up story content and heroes for S3. Among details like integrating Blade lore, and Knull being confirmed to be the new villain, there was also another drop that may be on the nose as a new roster addition through the story dialog that it could be Jean Grey as the Phoenix.

For the "From the Ashes", the Fantastic Four are discussing methods of dealing with the impending threat of Knull.

"We faced eternal night before and won, The Human Torch says. "We've got this."

"Easy to say, Matchstick," The Thing retorted. "But this ain't Dracula. This is the actual God of Darkness we're talking about here!"

"Ben's right," The Invisible Woman added. "How are we supposed to confront one of the primal forces of the universe?"

"Perhaps by calling on one of them ourselves, Susan, my dear, Namor responded, looking toward the stars.

Jean had already been datamined before Marvel Rivals' release, along with Blade, Captain Marvel, and MODOK (to name a few). Possibly one of the game's worst kept secrets, but at the very least, noting a "primal force" could serve as pretty verifiable confirmation. In Marvel Comics, the power of the Phoenix (which has been wielded by several people throughout the stories) is immortal and is one of the most indestructible entities. When under the influence of its might, Jean is unstable and wholly unpredictable.

For the upcoming season in July, Jean Grey would be a viable character to launch. EatEase will also set up a new Battle Pass, and the aforementioned Captain Marvel could likely be a new Hero addition.

Marvel Rivals is free-to-play for the Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Windows.
