Producer Koji Igarashi Announces Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement Will Be Postponed To 2027

Fans awaiting the next entry in the Bloodstained series will have to wait a little bit longer. In an official blog post, the development team has stated that Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement is being delayed until next year, pushing it beyond its expected 2026 launch. Co-founder of Artplay and former Castlevania: Symphony of the Night game designer Koji Igarashi posted a short video to the game's YouTube channel.
...I would like to share with you some information about our new title, Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement. We have made the decision to move the game's release to the year 2027. Currently, development of the game has entered its final stages.
We also hope to share some gameplay footage with you soon, so we hope you look forward to it. We understand that this is disappointing news for our fans, but everyone on the development team is working hard to make it the best game it can be. We sincerely appreciate your continued support.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night followed a lengthy development cycle after being a record breaking crowdfunded game on Kickstarter, following IGA's departure from Konami. The campaign funded $5.5 million dollars in 2015, and has since become a commercial success for Artplay, with spin-off games developed by Inti Creates (Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon I & II). To this date, it has sold over 2 million copies
The explorative action genre has exploded since the success of Bloodstained, showing that Igarashi's influence remains transformative. The competition is now considerably more demanding since the release of Ritual of the Night with contemporaries like Blasphemous, Dead Cells, and even Castlevania returning, so it will be fascinating to see what The Scarlet Engagement is capable of showcasing. It has been a year since its reveal trailer.
