Situations are about to get dire for the base that has yet to swap their PS4's for Sony's current generation platform. The cost to own a PlayStation 5 is becoming steeper. Straight from the horse's mouth, according to Sony themselves, PlayStation 5 hardware, which includes the PS5, PS5 digital, PS5 Slim, PS5 Pro, and Portal are seeing another hike in price by $100 across the board. The pricing goes into effect April 2nd, 2026.

Sony addresses the price changes as a result of the drastic economic changes that many countries have been facing.

"We know that price changes impact our community, and after careful evaluation, we found this was a necessary step to ensure we can continue delivering innovative, high-quality gaming experiences to players worldwide," Sony's vice president of global marketing said in a statement.
