Information unearthed could point signs of a remake of Resident Evil Zero. Given the success of the Resident Evil remakes thus far under Capcom's RE Engine, it seems like a lucrative course of action for the company. With Resident Evil Zero, a GameCube exclusive that was released in 2002, it would be widely accepted.

The reporting comes from MP1st, who has been corroborating information from 2024 that reveals remakes of Resident Evil: Code Veronica and Resident Evil Zero has been in the works. The source, Dusk Golem (a known reliable conduit of information regarding Resident Evil) highlights that the early plans for the two ground-up builds of the respective games were in motion, and RE9 would be pushed to 2025-26. Tweets were posted May of last year.

Information leading to this can be confirmed, as one of the actors signing onto the project, one Jon McLaren (Far Cry 5, Guardians of the Galaxy) is highly speculated to play the role of Billy Coen. At one point, the actor's resume included a credit for "Project Chamber" (codename for the protagonist of the game, Rebecca Chambers), it has since been edited. Sources indicate the project will be handled by Beyond Capture Studios, who worked on Resident Evil 4 Remake and Street Fighter 6, and they specialize in motion capture for video games.

Resident Evil Zero was re-released in the Resident Evil Origins Collection in 2016, which included HD remasters of the Resident Evil Remake and Zero. Dusk Golem would speculate in September that the potential release window for RE: Zero Remake is projected at 2028, with the remake of Code Veronica aiming for the first quarter of 2027

Remakes remain the rage in today's gaming atmosphere, for better or worse. Capcom's reimaginings of their classic survival horror games are well received, and popular entries like Code: Veronica have been on the tips of fans' tongue to earn that same treatment.
