The winner of the 2019 Game of the Year award, FromSoftware's skill-based Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice receives the anime treatment. Revealed at Gamescoms' Opening Night Live, Sekiro: No Defeat is confirmed to be in production. Director duties will be handled by veteran animator Kenichi Kutsuna (Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann), with Takashi Mukoda as animation director (a longtime collaborator with Production IG and studio Bones), and Takahiro Kishida (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure) as character designer.
The Japanese voice actors from the game will reprise their roles for the anime, with Daisuke Namikawa as Wolf, Miyuki Satou as Kuro/The Divine Heir and Kenjiro Tsuda as Genichiro Ashina. Most likely, the English voice cast may return, but that has not been confirmed, as of this writing.

"We are taking on the monumental task of animating the breathtakingly beautiful Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice,” said Kutsuna in a statement from Crunchyroll. “In doing so, we are pouring every ounce of our artistic vision and passion for beauty into its production. The final product is being crafted to be a truly memorable experience, one that will leave a lasting impression on both dedicated fans of the game and those who are discovering the world of Sekiro for the very first time. Please look forward to it."
The studio behind the show's production will be Qzil.la, who has worked on popular titles such as Chainsaw Man, Enter the Garden, and Champignon Witch. Sekiro: No Defeat will be the first anime adaptation for a FromSoftware game.
