We're seeing an interesting expansion of the Splatoon universe in the series in its first spin-off game. Named, Splatoon Raiders, you play as a mechanic assisting Deep Cut, the hosts and DJs of Splatoon 3, in exploring the strange Spirhalite Islands. The DJs and hosts of Splatoon have always played a larger part in the lore. The protagonists of the first game, Callie and Marie, are revealed to be Agents 1 and 2. In Splatoon 3, the pop duo Pearl and Marina, who were hosts of the second game, assist the player character, an Octoling known as Agent 8, battle the series antagonist DJ Octavio in the Side Order single player expansion. More news will follow for this upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 release.

Splatoon 3 is also getting a healthy update. On June 12th, the Splatlands collection will be available for FREE. This collection will include threads and weapons form the Barazushi and Emberz brands. Along with the new looks, main weapons with a fresh new style will come along with new sub-weapons, bringing the new weapons count to 30 for players to try out. Also in the update will be a returning stage from Splatoon 1, Urchin Underpass.
The new update will improve visuals and performance for Switch 2 owners, including more details and a smoother framerate. A new stat will be featured in Anarchy Battle Mode called Series Weapon Power. with this, it will track a player's success and effectiveness with a particular weapon based on win/loss ratio. This can match you with players of similar experience with said weapon, ensuring a more refined ranking up experience, so your ability to improve isn't impeded by playing against much stronger opponents.
