An agreement has been reached between tabletop producer Kess and major video game publisher/developer Square Enix to manufacture a line of board games based on the flagship RPG series. This deal will include a multi-game partnership, along with development of dice sets inspired by the HD Pixel Remastered versions of the Final Fantasy games.

The first leg of this collaboration will be Final Fantasy: The Board Game, which will be produced by the indie board game designer and founder of Reversal Games, Anthony Thorp (One Piece: Luffy's Bento Panic, Sonic Roll, and the Tome series). It will be 1-4 player co-op, and will be inspired by Final Fantasys I-II. Dice will also be produced by Kess for both gameplay and display/design purposes, along with sculpted figurines of the characters throughout Final Fantasy I-VI. The dice and game are scheduled for a Q3 2026 release date.

“We’ve seen how powerful 'Final Fantasy' can be in the tabletop space recently, bringing longtime fans and brand-new players into a shared experience,” Chief Executive Officer Alex Kessler spoke in a press release. “We’re excited to partner with Square Enix and continue that momentum with our own faithful adaptation that honors what fans love most about the Pixel Remaster Era while delivering something fun, accessible and collectible for the tabletop community.”

More details on these products (and likely future items) will be revealed at the New York Toy Fair, February 14-17 2026.
